Huynh Nhu: 'Win the SEA Games to confidently go to the World Cup'
Huynh Nhu is a member of the Vietnamese women's team that won gold medals at the last three SEA Games in Malaysia 2017, Philippines 2019 and at home last year. But according to this veteran striker, the fourth time with the team winning the post-SEA Games title at this time still has a very personal meaning.
"Winning the 32nd SEA Games will help us confidently head to the World Cup," Huynh Nhu said after the final victory over Myanmar 2-0 on the evening of May 15. "This success also helps fans have more faith in Vietnamese women's football."
Before the 32nd SEA Games, Vietnamese women were doubted about their ability to protect the gold medal after changing blood. The team also had difficulty sharing a group with two strong opponents, Myanmar and the Philippines. But Huynh Nhu and his teammates have gradually conquered the challenge to go to the women's football championship.
"Nothing is easy," Huynh Nhu said. "Before the final match, coach Mai Duc Chung told the whole team that 'if we win, we will go down in history'. Therefore, I and my teammates entered the match with determination and best efforts, and can do".

Huynh Nhu's opening goal in the 12th minute opened an easier game for Vietnam against Myanmar, before Thanh Nha's juniors closed the score with a goal in the 75th minute. Huynh Nhu could not win the title of King of Breakers. net as the title goal before the Games, but the three goals she scored in Cambodia were all important openings.
Today, Vietnamese women will move in two groups to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. The players will rest for the rest of the week, before the expected return on May 22. In June, the team will go to Poland, Germany for training and then to New Zealand. In this period, the Vietnamese women will play friendly matches from three to four matches, in which they will meet Poland U23, Germany and New Zealand, before attending the 2023 World Cup in July.
