Tuchel is not worried about being sacked by Bayern like Kahn and Salihamidzic

German Thomas Tuchel believes he will continue to lead Bayern next season, despite the club having just fired CEO Oliver Kahn and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic shortly after winning the Bundesliga.

Immediately after winning the Bundesliga on May 27, Bayern announced that Jan-Christian Dreesen would replace Kahn as CEO, and Salihamidzic's successor has not been decided. Dreesen served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bayern for the past 10 years. Initially, he announced his departure from the club in the fall at the end of the 2022-2023 season in search of new challenges.

On Twitter, Kahn said he was "banned" from attending the final round against Cologne - where Bayern won 2-1 to overtake Dortmund. The former German player considered this the worst day of his life, when he was deprived of the opportunity to celebrate the championship with the whole team.

Salihamidzic still attended and witnessed the moment Bayern won their 11th consecutive Bundesliga title. He is proud of his six years as Bayern's sporting director, with both the good and the bad. The former Bayern winger emphasized that he respects the decision of the Board of Directors, and wishes the club unity and success.

It was Kahn and Salihamidzic who approved the decision to appoint Thomas Tuchel to replace Julian Nagelsmann in March. This decision did not work when the "Gray Lobster" was continuously eliminated from the Champions League, German Cup and only surpassed Dortmund to won the Bundesliga in the final minutes of the closing round.

"I knew from yesterday that they were going to be sacked," Tuchel told Sky after Bayern's coronation at the RheinEnergie. "Salihamidzic called me eight weeks ago. Together with Kahn, they convinced us that we should work together. They were primarily responsible for that, so I would have to deal with this first. Instead of celebrating, we were going to have to take care of that. We have a new topic to discuss."

When asked about the possibility of continuing to lead Bayern next season, the German coach laughed and replied: "Now, I think so."

Meanwhile, old general Thomas Muller was surprised by the decision of the Board of Directors of Bayern. "Really? The decision was made just a minute after the final whistle? I didn't know anything about it until now", the German striker expressed.

In the final round, while Dortmund drew Mainz 2-2 at home, Bayern won 2-1 at Cologne to overcome the opponent. The two teams finished the season with 71 points, but Tuchel's teachers and students won the championship thanks to a better goal difference.

While the team was celebrating and preparing for the summer break, the 49-year-old coach immediately turned his focus to the new season. "The match against Cologne showed what we have to do better. We have to aim for higher standards and be more focused," said Tuchel, while also aiming to win more titles next season, in addition to defending the Bundesliga.

Jamal Musiala is the hero of Bayern with the winning goal in the 89th minute to help Bayern reach the top of the Bundesliga table. The 20-year-old midfielder said winning the championship after difficulties throughout the season was an incredible moment. He admits Bayern has not had a good season, and is determined to improve next season.
